********* Earlier in the Day ***********

Kathir’s Mobile alarm rang out at around 4.45 in the morning, rousing him for the day. He blinked back his sleep and woke feeling a sense of calmness. For few minutes he was in a state of confuse of the earlier night’s events! Then he remembered promising to take Mullai to temple. With a smile, he started getting ready for an exciting day.

He got ready in the trousers and shirt she purchased for their Kodaikanal trip. He again chose the blue shirt, that he wore for their cycle ride and remembered the blissful time they had. That was the first time they actually had a relaxing time with each other, in such a close proximity, that they took willingly. He did truly enjoy the time he rode around the lake with her seated in front of him.

K: (to himself..) Cycle irundha andha madhri Pogalam.. Namma kita vandi dhana iruku! Indha Kanna paya cycle otalam la. Namma inniki edhuthukitu poga vasadhiya irundhirukum…

Aiyo Kathiru.. Neram Aagudhu… Poda.. Kilambu! Ava wait pannuva! Adhuku vera pakkam pakkam ma pesuva…

He got ready and left the house, once again through the back door. He pushed his vehicle a little away from his house without starting, all the while calling her up.

M: Good Morning nga! Ezhuthuteeyala?

K: Naan Kilambiten..

M: Apo naan vandhuren nga ipo!

K: Iru ma… Solradha konjam muzhusa thaan kelean!

M: mmmm… Sollunga!

K: Nee kilambitiya?

M: Ready nga…

K: Seri… Naan Aalamaram stop ku vandhutu phone panren… Nee apo veetla irundhu vaa… Seriya! Ippavae vandhu veliya.. thaniyalam nikka vendam! Unnaku dhan bayam la?

M: Bayam lam onnum ilenga… Inga lam veedu dhana!

K: Naan Vandhu kopidaren.. Apparam veliya vaa.. Puriyudha?

M: Saringa!

K:Vaikaren….

M: mmmm…

He reached the spot he mentioned, stopped his vehicle safely and started walking towards her place. Once he was near to her entrance, he called her up and asked her to come out. As she came out the gate, she was surprised to see him standing outside, waiting for her. Looking from the entrance of their house, no one would know he was there!

He gestured for her to walk by, and started walking along side her, putting a little distance between them. Once they reached the spot where he has parked the vehicle, he started the vehicle and let Mullai climb the pillion seat.

She happily sat behind him, taking hold of his right shoulder with her right hands. He placed his left palm over her right hand on his shoulder, giving it a slight pressure, to let her know his liking of her hold. She smiled. He turned his head to his left,  gaining her attention, asked
Pogalama?

M: Pogalanga.

K: Nalla Utkanthu iruka la?

M: Aamamga.

They reached the temple in around 10 mins. After purchasing some garlands and pooja items to offer to the god, he got her some Jasmine length as well as a single red rose, to go with her outfit, which was an red saree. She happily took what he offered and wore it. It was relatively early and the crowd was less. They prayed in peace.

Kathir and Mullai sat at the mandapam for some time , neither speaking. Mullai, bored of the queit, started

M: Enga?! Ipo namma veetuku pogalam la?

K: Ipo ve va?

M: Apparam? Vendama?

K: Ey… Unga amma, appa kita lam solanum la… Nee patuku ipave polama nu kaekura?

M: Apo neera enga amma veetuku poi sollitu, naama pogalam… 😃😃

K: ufffff… Adhu konjamavudhu nalla irukuma? Mudhala nee inga vandhadhu, adhuvum naan vandhu unna kootitu inga vandhadhu edhuvume avangaluku theriyaadhu! Ipo poi, naan kilambaren nu solluviya?

M: ☹ ☹

K: Naan unna ipo marupadiyum unga veetla vitutu, kadaiku poitu, konjam neram kazhichu, annan – anni kitalam sollitu unnai vandhu kootitu poren. Seriya?

Nee adhukula un pai pack panniko. Inniki un pirandhanaal vera! Avangalum unkooda konja neram irukanumnu aasai paduvanga la?

M: Saringa. Epo varuveenga?

K: Vandhudaren… Inniki enna aanalum, nee namma veetuku vandhuduva. Puriyudha? Vaa.. Ipo kilambalam. Neeram aagudhu Paaru!

M: mmmm… Vaanga..

K: Ey… Apparam…

M: Ennanga?

K: Nejamaave unnaku… en mela endha kobamum ilaya? Edhuvum ketka vendama?

M: Kobam ellam edhuvum ilenga. Neraya ketakanum. Neraya solanum. Aana, inga adhu mudiyadhu. Kandipa kobam ilenga!

K: Seri.. Veetla.. Veetuku poi.. nee kelu! Ketkanum… Naanum siladhu ketkanum! Solanum.

 M: Inniki edhuvum kidaiyadhu… ellam wait pannatum… adha pathi ipo edhuku pesurenga.. Naan porumaiya ketukaren… Neenga ketalum.. inniki ennaku pirandhanaal.. adhanala naan endha badhilum solla maten…

K: Appadiya? Matha naal lam solliduviyaa?

M: Ennanga.. Orandu izhukareengala?

Kathir narrowed his eyes at her, yet there was a smile playing on his lips,

M: Pogalam nga.

She dragged him with her, making him laugh and go along as she wished.
