Mullai was clearing the kitchen  for the night. It had been a fulfilling day. She never expected her birthday to turn out into such an wonderful celebration. This is the best birthday and it will remain as her No. 1 Birthday celebration.

Her husband, shy and introvert husband, has made it the best day of her life. Not even in her wildest dreams did she think of her day taking such pleasant turns. All thanks to that one man – her man. Her SUN. Her Kathir.

She wanted to speak to him, share so much with him, but is not sure, if he will be awake or is willing to share his thoughts? But again, she will share hers. Let him do when he is comfortable. His gesture from late last night to this moment repeatedly proved her, his willingness to share his life with her. 

She once again remained herself that he is man of actions than of words. And those words last night! Man.. They kept running in her ears all through the day.

She once again visualized the events of last night, the way her birthday started. Its etched in her memory like a writing carved on a rock.

He closed his eyes… took a deep breath, turned his head and looked at her opening his eyes.
She was standing to his left,  her hands fidgeting at sides. She was holding the pallu end of her saree. She looked adorable.

“Ennaku naama rendu perum serindhu vaazhanam nu aasai. Idhu varaikum naan edhavudhu thappu panni irundha manichidu. Sollu. Thiruthikiren. Aana… Ennaku nee venum! Vazhkai muzhudhum kooda vara… Adhuku naan enna pannanum. Nee sollu. Naan seiren.

Nee ennaku romba mukiyam, Adhai naan kalam muzhuka nirubika oru vaaipu tharuveeya? “
She was so shocked on hearing him speak all this so clearly. So confidently. There was no doubt or wavering in his voice. It sounded so sure.

She could still hear his heartbeat racing and calming down after she leaned on him on hearing his confession. Her heart raced even faster on knowing that he was also tensed, unsure and actually waited for her response.

And the way he calmed after she affirmed him and in turn calmed her with his gentle caresses and hold of hands.

As she thought of the events of her birthday, she was unable to silence the voice at the back of her head, questioning what went wrong just a few days prior!

Ivlo anba manasula vachikitu irukagha… Mazhai nu kooda paarkama, ennaku Vazhthu solanum nu andha nerathula, veetu vaasal – la vandhu nikkuragha! Inniki muzhukka ennalam senjagha… Aana pesa sonna matum alandhu.. alandhu pesuragha!

Avugala solluvaga nu kaathukitu irundha velaiku aagadhu Mullai. Neeye Kalathula erangidu. Un manasula irukaradha sollidu. Apparam avuga ishtam. Pesuvom. Innike Pesuvom. Inniki un pirandhanaal. Naama vazhaikaila enna venumo adhukana mudhal adi innike eduthu vaipom.

She starts to go to their room, but comes to a halt noting there are still people sitting in hall. She can’t simply go in and lock the door. She looks around once again into the hall and finds that her husband is not there. It means he is already in their room.

She stood and thought of escaping the queries and glances. It made her uncomfortable like any normal being. She knows and understands it’s a harmless banter, but for her and her husband, this is all new and these leg pulling are major spoilers.

Jeeva noticed Mullai standing on the other end, lost in thoughts and understood her need to be with her husband. He can totally relate to Kathir and Mullai wanting to spend time together today as much as possible.

J: Seri anni… Meenavum tired ah iruka.. Naangalum kalaila kadaiku seekiram kilambanum. Ipo thoonga pogalam. Neraya sapitadhu vera..

Me: Naan tired ah irukena? Enna Jeeva?

J: Ippa dhandi 10 nimishathuku munnadi sonna!
(He signs with his eyes towards Mullai to make Meena understand his play)

Me: Oh! Aama.. aama! Rombha tired ah iruku! Mudhughu ellam orey Vali… Padhutha seri!

Moorthy and Dhanam also notice this play of Jeeva and went along with it. Dhanam conveyed her happiness through eyes to Moorthy for the support Jeeva and Meena are lending Kathir and Mullai in all this.

Kanna not understanding any of this

Ka: Inniki oru naal dhaan ellarum nerama veetuku vandeengha! Ipo ellarum thoonga poona eppadi? Vaanga innum konja neram pesitu irukalam..

Me: Ivan oruthan.. neram kalam theriyama… (whispers)

Ka: Mullai anni.. Anga ean nikareega? Neengalum vaanga..

Mullai roused from her musings and was about to join the group unwillingly. Dhanam calls out..

D: Iru Mullai.. Ivan kidakaran. Enga ellarukum thookam varudhu. Neeyum tired ah dhan irupa.. Kathir thoonga poi 10-15 nimishathuku mela aachu. Nee po.

Aan apparam andha Paal paniyaram oru cup eduthutu po.. Meena neeyum eduthutu po. Anga 4 cup vacuruken.

Mullai had a similar thought planned out for her escape to room, so she obliged and said

M: Seri Ka. Meena irungha.. Naan eduthutu vaaren.

She brings, hands one cup to Meena who leaves, one cup to Kanna who happily starts eating, one to Dhanam who places it again on the tray, stating..

D: Eduthuko Mullai. Ungaluku dhan senjen. Unnaku dhan idhu romba pudikume. Po. Avan room la unnaku dhan wait pannitu irupaan. Paavam. 3 Naala avan mugam avlo vaadi irundhudhu! Oru pottu thoonginananu theriyala!
Ennada ippadi solranenu nenaichukadha! Edhuva irundhalum, avana ippadi vitutu pogadha! Seriya? Avan thaangha maatan. Neeyum thaangalanu ennaku ipo theriyum.

Mullai smiles and shakes her head as ok and starts to leave,

D: Eppavum ippadi sandhosama iru Mullai. Edhavudhu prechanai na.. akka kita sollu. Seriya? Neeyum kathirum sandhosama irundhadhan ennaku nimadhi. Marupadiyum Happy birthday..

She lightly taps her on the cheek and leaves.
