***********Earlier in the Day************

Kathir had actually brought the bike instead of his usual TVS 50. Just for today. As he expected, she was pleasantly surprised and expressed the same with her broad smile and an excited…

“Ayyyyeeee… Bike la vandhurukeeghala?”

K: Aamam.. aamam…

M: Ennaiya kootitu poren na?

K: (Aagasathula medhakaraloo? Konjam tharailayum kaal irukatum)
Saraku delivery kuduka Saravanan vandi venumnu sonnan… adhunala dhaan… Ean? Nee bike la than varuveeyo?

M: mmmhmmm…

She whispered to herself – Raathri avlo anbha pesitu, kalaila avlo aasai aasaiya nadanthukitu, ipo thirupiyum maram earitaagala?

K: Enna anga munumununghara?

M: Onnum ilengha…

He climbed the vehicle, seated comfortably and took the bag from her, placing it safely in the front. 

He once again turned towards her and said,

K: Vandhu utkaaru. Sonna dhan varuviyo?.. ey….  Apparam …. Nalla Pudichitu utkaaru! Vizhundhu vaikadha… 😉

M: Adhalem vizhamatom… :-/

K: Unnoda varalaru vera madhri iruke ma!

She sat at the pillion comfortably and took hold of Kathir’s shoulders.

K: Nalla utkaandhutiya? Pogalama?

M: hmmm… Pogalamgha!

Kathir rode the bike very carefully knowing their riding history. He doesn’t want to jinx his luck or get her hurt. He also went around the town to reach the destination siting different reasons from time to time, though none was a lie.

Mullai on the other hand was cursing herself for not taking hold around his waist when the opportunity presented itself, earlier.

“ Indha madhri marupadiyum epo avugha unna bike la kootitu povaghanu yosichiya? Adhan nalla pidichitu utkaaru nu sonnarla… appave andha chance ah use panni irukanum… “

“Ipo nee kaiya mathinena, aayiram kelvi varum.. hmmm… seriyana loose Mullah nee…”

As they were crossing the usual tender coconut vendor, he stopped and offered to get her a tender coconut. He remembered her words from last time about her wish of being able to go out and eat there, rather than at home.

M: Ipo vaa?

K: Ean? Elaneer kudika neeram lam pakkanumo?

M: Appadi ila! Raathri mazhai peinjithu ila?

K: Raathri thaana? Ipo unnaku elaneer venuma? Vendama?

M: Venum….

K: (He thought to himself) Ivaluku onnu seiyalam nu nenaichalum, kelvi ketae andha aasaiya viratiduvaa…innimel iva kita ketkama seiyuda kathiru! Apparama thitina kooda vangikalam...

Now to the shopkeeper,

Annae! 2 elaneer kudungha…

They slowly finished the tender coconut and once again started the journey. As they were going, Kathir’s phone rang. It was Dhanam at the other end. He stopped the vehicle in the left and picked the call, gesturing Mullai to not get down or make a noise.

K: Sollunga Anni!

D: Kathiru! Madhiya saapadu ready ah iruku! Vandhu eduthukiriya? Kadaiku koopiten… Jeeva nee veliyila dhaan iruke nu sonnan.. Adhaan nanae koopitukiren nu solli koopiten…

K: Seri Anni… Konjam nerathula vandhudaren…

D: Ahhnnn Kathiru… Apparam, konjam sweet, palakaaram lam vaangitu variya? Veetla ellam mudinjidhu.. Kannan vandhalum ketpan.. Meenavum ketukite irundha! Appadiye ice cream vaangitu vandhudu da!

K: Ennadhu? Ice cream ah? Indha Mazhai peiyura nerathulaya?

D: Aama da.. ipo sapita super ah irukum... Jolly ya irukum… 

K: Seri anni… Ellam vaangitu, innum konjam nerathula veetuku varen…

He cut the call and informed Mullai that they are taking a small detour for a snacks shop.
