Mullai was roused from her musings when she felt her fingers being threaded with another set of strong and lean fingers. She turned to find her husband smiling at her, serenely. It felt so normal to sit near him, take his arms or hold his hands. Though this has started just now, it felt as if they have been this way all their life, no odd feelings or an ounce of doubt surfaced, surprising her.  

That smile directed at her from him set 1000s n 1000s of butterflies in her, yet somehow calmed her, gave her the confidence that they are going to have a great life together.

M: Indhaangha! ( And offered the Paal Paniyaram she brought with her)

Kathir took the spoon and had one small piece, offering the cup to Mullai
Indha.. Nee Saapidu!

M: Ila Paravailangae..

K: mmmm… Indha.. ( He picks a piece out onto the spoon and offers her)

Mullai was simply mesmerized and her eyes once again clouded.

Kathir noticed this. In order to change the way things are proceeding, he placed the cup in her hand and asked her to eat it. He is uncomfortable when he sees her tears. It made him feel helpless and useless. She picked the cup and had a bite out as well, just to appease him.

Mullai wanted to speak, but is not sure of where to start. Kathir felt her distress, and in order to calm her, took her palm and started drawing soothing circles softly at the back of her hand. She instantly relaxed.

M: Thanks gha… ( Looking down)

K: Edhuku? ( He slightly turned his head in her direction)

M: Ennakagha inniki neenga evlo pannirukeegha! Appappa… Naan konjam kooda ethir pakkala…

K: Sandhosama?

M: Romba sandhosam gha.. Appadiye Aagayathula parakara madhri iruku!

Kathir was happy to see her childish excitement and delight.

K: Pidichiruka?

His tone was soft, yet there was something in the way he said that made her take a pause and notice him. His deep, soul searching looks were pinned on her and it set her soul on fire.

She answered truthfully.

M: Romba pidhichiruku!

After a split second, she threw him a million-dollar smile and took his arms, leaning once again on 
his shoulders, closing her eyes and savoring the moment.

Both sat in silence, relishing the comfortable silence, as their heartbeats tuned in rhythm with one another.
