Meanwhile at Mullai’s Home
Parvathy is sitting in the hall and making
preparation works for dinner. Mullai is by her side and helping her. She keeps
looking at her mobile from time to time.
Parvathy: Mulla… Mappila unna nalla
parthukararila? Anga unnaku onnum prechanai ilaye?
Mullai: Ila ma. Enna avaru romba nalla
parthukarar. Naan dhan apo loose madhri edhavudhu sollidaren.. senjudaren… apo
kooda avaru porumaiya enna, eadhunu ketutu dhan pesuraru.
Even though the answer felt truthful, Mullai
was not happy or joyous when saying all this.. It confirmed Parvathy’s
suspicion of something being wrong between the couple.
Parvathy: Unnaku anga neraya velai irukuma?
Rest eduka mudiyuma?
Mullai: Appadi onnum perusa velailam ila ma.
Akka ve ellam senjuruvanga. Naan kooda kaiku irupen. Avlo dhan. Mathapadi Kadai
vishiyam, Maama, ivuga, kanna ippadi ellam poga vara irukaradhunala eppavum
busy ya irukum.
She decided to probe a little, so as to guide
her daughter in the right direction if need be. She has concluded from
everything that happened since the couples’ arrival that it has to be sorted
between themselves and no 3rd person should be involved. But that
doesn’t mean she can’t be a catalyst.
Like her husband, she too has a work to do for
their daughter’s happy life.
Parvathy: Amma kita konjam koova padama badhil
solluviya? Unnalladhuku dhan naan ketpen nu unnaku theriyum la!
Mullai: Enna ma?
Parvathy: Unnaku anga kaasuku kashtam ah da?
Adhane Moothiratha vikka ponna?
Mullai: Amma. Adha pathi dhayavu senju ipo
pesadha ma. Aana onnu ma. Athatchi ya konjam thaliye vai. Nambinadhu ellam
podhum.
Parvathy: En ma appadi solra? Nee anga kashta
pata ennaku theriyanum la. Kekka aal ila nu andha Dhanam nenachida koodadhu da.
Mullai: Akka voda unnaku appadi enna dhan ma
prechanai? Envo ma… Aana athatchi ya nambadha.
Mullai was reminded of the whole humiliating
scenario. This again led to Kathir’s care and affection towards her, continued
by her efforts for buying him the gift and buying the gift itself. His
excitement and expression of gratitude for the gift, which brought tears to
Mullai’s eyes.
Parvathy observed the changing emotions on
Mullai’s face. This once again confirmed her suspicion that it’s a husband-wife
issue. She decided to guide Mullai in a subtle way possible.
Parvathy: En Mulla… Mappila phone panninara?
Mullai: Ila ma. Nethu dhana vitutu ponaga.
Parvathy: Inniku kupidalaya?
Mullai: Pagal nerathula Kadai la avlo velai
irukum. Ipo Pudhu kadai velai vera sernthiruku.
Parvathy: Nee koopida vendiyadhu dhana?
Mullai: ila ma.. avagaluku velai nerathula
disturb panna suthama pudikaadhu.
Parvathy: Pondatti phone pannuradhulam oru
thondharava da? Ennava venum naalum irukatum.. Nee avaruku koopitu rendu
vaarthai pesu. Seriya?
Mullai: Hmmm… seri ma… ( She said this very
faintly)
Parvathy decided to divert the topic a little,
but still stay with the family itself,
Anniki unna koopida unga appa vandhutu, avlo
sandhosam avaruku…
“Mappillai ku mullai ya vitu iruka manusu ila..
Adhunala naan kootitu varla.
Enna avaru vaai niraya Maama nu koopitar nu”………
Parvathy went on talking… But Mullai has tuned
her out on the reminder of not having spoken to Kathir for almost two days. It
hurt her s bad, she was finding it hard to breath. She wanted to cry, wanted to
scream, but was not able to do. The one person to whom she has opened up of her
emotions for the past couple of months, is the one who is avoiding her, not
wanting her.
Unknowingly he has become her friend. Close
friend. Best friend. Only friend. Now that she thinks of it, he had been her
only solace in all the trauma this past year.
Her eyes welled up. She stared at her phone.
